Christine is the famous, cold-blooded killing sentient 1958 Plymouth Fury, based on both the novel and the movie adaptation of the same name by famous horror author Stephen King. Christine is known for it's possessive and jealous attitude, often hunting down humans in means of killing. In the 1983 film when Christine selects a victim to kill, she would often play her radio, consisting of 1950s, early 1960s music.
It appears in the film adaptation of Ready Player One, first seen in the Race scene, being piloted by a user sporting the avatar of Dizzy Wallin from the popular third-person shooter game Gears of War.
Appearance[]
Christine is a said 1958 Plymouth Fury, who has a red colored tint, a beige-white stripe along it's body, two small fins at the back, and another beige-white colored area, said area is the top. It has two small headlights on each side, and has a small-like sized grille. It is presumably gendered a female, due to it's name.
Role in Ready Player One[]
Christine is first seen parked on the fourth to third slot (parked in front of the A-Team Van) of the Copper Key race, where the driver, Dizzy Wallin from Gears of War chats to Lara Croft of Tomb Raider, before the race. As soon as the race starts, Christine (with Dizzy in the driver's seat), is still positioned in the fourth row, as apposed to every driver who is positioned differently. Christine manages to drive behind the Bigfoot monster truck (piloted by Aech, next to the Formula 1 Cars and the Batmobile.
On the first obstacles on the first part of the race, the bridge to New York, Christine drives on the right lanes of the bridge, before making it's way to the two middle lanes (most likely by going down the lanes to where the train tracks sides are), and manages to jump over the Hot-Wheels-like ramps to New York City, alongside the V8 Interceptor, where the two successfully race down onto the New York streets and possibly managed to pass the Pork Chop Express, serving as one of the obstacles in the New York street portion.
After all of the racers manage to the next obstacle and portion of the race, Christine is only seen here for the last time. Said portion of the race is the Wrecking Ball stage, where large cranes with giant wrecking balls hit unlucky drivers. It is possible Christine is one of these unlucky cars to be hit by the wrecking balls, as we never see it again pass this stage in the race.
It reappears in the race, when Parzival drives backwards. When Parzival goes underground as part of the secret backwards race, Christine either survives or crashes, when it re-enters the bridge jump, but is often confused for the Batmobile, who has similar headlights, but either way, on of them crashes, but it is not known who crashes.
