Clark Kent glasses are an artifact that disguises an avatar's identity without changing their look.
Film[]
After Parzival arrives in Halliday's Journals and is enthusiastically greeted following his victory in the first challenge, he is dragged into a room by a disguised Art3mis who insists that Parzival must now disguise himself. Art3mis pulls out the glasses and puts them on Parzival, changing his hair color to black and his entire hairstyle before combining it with a suit she pulls from her inventory to make the perfect disguise for him. After reaching the scene they are looking for with The Curator, Art3mis peels the disguise off of Parzival like a mask and the glasses return to her inventory.
While tricking Nolan Sorrento into leading them to Art3mis, Parzival uses the glasses or a similar artifact to disguise himself as his real-world self Wade Watts. After succeeding in tricking Sorrento, Parzival peels off his Wade disguise in the same way Art3mis removed the one the glasses had given him in Halliday's Journals.
Trivia[]
The name of the artifact is a reference to Superman's alter-ego Clark Kent who uses a pair of similar glasses as part of his everyday, ordinary disguise.
When Art3mis peels off the disguise Parzival is wearing using the glasses, the effect is similar to in Mission Impossible when a character removes the mask disguising them as someone else.
