Description[]

The Crystal Key is the last of the three keys in Ready Player One, first mentioned in Anorak's Invitation

After finishing the Black Tiger game in the Second Gate, a glowing red circle with a five-pointed star is shown on the screen, with a spinning picture of the key inside.  This is a reference to 2112, an album by Rush.

The lyrics of the song give the location:

We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls.
We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx
All the gifts of life are held within our walls.

The planet Syrinx is found in Sector 21.

I lie awake, staring out at the bleakness of Megadon. City and sky become one, merging into a single plane, a vast sea of unbroken grey. The Twin Moons, just two pale orbs as they trace their way across the steely sky.

On the surface, there are 1024 copies of Megadon, twice the number of Zork instances on Frobozz.

The temple of Syrinx contains an altar that needs an offering:

Behind my beloved waterfall, in the little room that was hidden beneath the cave, I found it. I brushed away the dust of the years, and picked it up, holding it reverently in my hands. I had no idea what it might be, but it was beautiful. I learned to lay my fingers across the wires, and to turn the keys to make them sound differently. As I struck the wires with my other hand, I produced my first harmonious sounds, and soon my own music!

There is a 1974 Gibson Les Paul guitar found in a hidden chamber, which can be used as an offering, but first the player should play the guitar in the chamber to reveal an additional clue:

The first was ringed in red metal
The second, in green stone
The third is clearest crystal
and cannot be unlocked alone

The crystal key has a single calligraphic letter, "A", referring to Castle Anorak.
